Free Style Crochet
Updated: Aug 17
Free style crochet is exactly that, FREE STYLE.
Knowing the basic crochet stitches, how to increase and decrease, is all you really need to know to create free style crochet.
It does not involve following a pattern at all.
I will be honest, I found it incredibly hard to master FREE FORM crochet, but others take to it straight away. I tried doing a bit of FREE FORM crochet 2 years ago and I just couldn't do it. So I gave up.
Then last year I grabbed a bag of blue yarn oddments, and had another try. And suddenly I could do it. No problem! And away I went.

So, after some time practicing and feeling confident that I could actually create a FREE FORM crochet cardigan, I started creating a design that I have had in my head for a couple of years.
I want to make a whimsical cardigan covered in green shapes, toadstools, stars and moons. This is what I began to create.
The last image is as far as I have managed to get with this Work In Progress.
I will make future blog posts when Ihave time to return to it.
Meanwhile, there is a great group on Facebook for FREEFORM crocheters. You can find it here.
